Mark Gavin, Sr.

Mark is a dedicated political strategist and community organizer with over a decade of experience in leading successful campaigns and initiatives at various levels of government. Born and raised in Warren, Ohio, Mark's advocacy journey began at 8 when his father trained him to lobby the Warren City Council to reopen a local park. He has since worked in multiple key leadership roles, honing his skills in staff development,  team building, project & budget management, and coalition management.

Mark's recent accomplishments include serving as Campaigns Director for Power A Clean Future Ohio, where he helmed three successful local ballot initiatives promoting energy freedom and renewable sourcing in 2022. As Organizing Director for 360 Campaign Consulting's Win Justice initiative, Mark led a diverse team during the Georgia runoff, responsible for nearly 240,000 calls & texts and over 37,000 voting commitments. Previously, Mark held positions at the ACLU of Ohio and Indivisible, where he played a crucial role in developing campaign strategies, building volunteer bases, and managing staff across multiple states.

Mark's expertise extends beyond political campaigns to community organizing, focusing on energy, the environment, and criminal justice reform to empower people of color. In 2016, President Obama recognized his efforts in a speech.

When not immersed in politics and advocacy, Mark is an avid television fan and enjoys watching Jeopardy and discussing The West Wing. He is passionate about photography, gardening, and home brewing. Mark and his wife Hope coach their son Mark Jr.'s soccer team, the GCKA Green Goblins. Mark also serves as the Vice Chairperson of the Juvenile Justice Coalition's Board of Directors. Mark resides in Grove City, Ohio, with Hope, 13-year-old Mark Jr., and their Yellow Lab, Ella-Barker.
